On January 1st, 2012, our anniversary, after the clock struck midnight, I had the biggest surprise of my life. My true love proposed to me at our home. Almost everyone in the room knew six months ago that this was happening — except for me, of course.
Lance convinced me to have a New Year’s Eve party. Our parents and all of our closest friends were in attendance. I was having a wonderful time mingling with our guests, pouring drinks, giving hugs, laughing, and reminiscing. I had absolutely no idea what was about to happen.
About 20 minutes before midnight, Lance switched on the TV so we could all watch the ball drop in Times Square. I distributed party favors to all of our guests, making sure everyone had a noisemaker, a Happy New Year hat, and champagne.
The countdown began with me on my beau’s arm, preparing for our midnight kiss.
7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1! HAPPY NEW YEAR! At midnight, everyone blew their horns and cheered in 2012. I kissed my love and cheered along with everyone.
Lance quieted everyone in the room for his toast. He said a huge thank you to everyone for making it to our party and prefaced a “surprise for Rebecca” that he’d think I’d like, though I hate surprises. I still had absolutely no idea what was to come.
I thought that he was going to announce that January 1st is our anniversary and have everyone cheer for us. Nope, not what happened.
He reached into his pocked, pulled out a small wooden box, and my loud gasp broke the silence. I burst out into tears of shock, joy, bliss, love, and happiness. Lance asked me to marry him, in front of all of my friends, my mother and father, his close friends, and his mom. I couldn’t even muster a yes and frantically nodded my response.
He got down on one knee and presented me with the most beautiful ring I could have ever dreamed of. Some people were still unsure if I accepted his proposal. I was so shocked, I barely peeped a ‘yes.’ As soon as everyone realized I had said yes, our guests erupted into a loud drawn out cheering session and my beau kissed me through my tears and placed the ring on my finger.
It was a beautiful moment. Perhaps the most embarrassing, but the happiest moment of my life. I am so in love with this man. I cannot wait to say ‘I do!” :’)
P.S. Of course I was wearing an ivory and gold Anna Sui dress for the party. ;D Please excuse my major flush, the above photo was taken after my second bout of hysterical crying.

“In my Spring 1994 fashion show, the last three looks featured super models Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. All the models were scheduled to walk out one-by-one, but the runway was long enough for three girls to always be on-view at the same time. As Linda, Naomi and Christy passed each other on the catwalk, they caught each others eyes. For some reason Linda stopped in the middle of the runway and waited until the three of them caught-up to each other, and they proceeded to walk together in unison. It was a completely unplanned, magical fashion moment that I will never forget. As the girls turned before they exited, they all burst-out in giggles. The sight of those three famous girls (who are all dear friends of mine) standing together in their adorable poufy baby doll dresses and circus pony tiaras brought the house down.” - the fabulous Anna Sui

FT Island has some very catch songs, “Hello Hello” being one of them. K-pop makes me groove my stress away. :D
